HB 3446 -- DISCLOSURE OF MAJOR FOOD ALLERGENS ON RESTAURANT MENUS

SPONSOR: Walsh Moore

This bill requires restaurants to provide written notification of the major food allergens that the restaurant knows or reasonably should know are contained as an ingredient in each menu item, either directly on its menu or in a digital format, as specified in the bill. The Department of Health and Senior Services will enforce the provisions of this bill and may use visual verification of allergen disclosure or other reasonable methods of verification to evaluate a restaurant's compliance with this bill's provisions.

The bill provides that its provisions do not apply to prepackaged foods subject to federal labeling requirements for major food allergens.
