Currently, volunteer firefighters are excluded from the definition of "firefighter" for the purpose of the Public Safety Recruitment and Retention Act. This bill includes volunteer firefighters currently carried on the rolls of a fire department for the purpose of fighting fires, allowing them to be eligible for the benefits available under the Act.
