This bill designates the city of Bland as "The Silver City of the Rock Island Trail" of Missouri.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that this bill would help bring attention to the town of Bland which could increase tourism. The town was named after congressman Richard Bland who was from there. Congressman Bland was a large supporter of the silver industry and he passed legislation to create silver dollars. Bland has great potential to be developed and this would bring attention to it.
Testifying in person for the bill were Representative Sassmann; Arnie Dienoff; Lucie Scott; and Elliott Smith.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
