This bill designates Kansas City as the official "Barbecue Capital of the state of Missouri".

This bill is similar to HB 3287 (2026).

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that Kansas City was a river and rail hub that brought in many different styles of cooking meat. Kansas city developed a style of barbecue that is known worldwide. Unlike other cities known for barbecuing one particular meat well, Kansas City barbecue is well rounded and has great beef, pork, chicken, turkey, and fish.

Testifying in person for the bill was Representative Johnson.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
