This bill designates April 30th each year as "William Lacy Clay Sr. Day".
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that this bill would honor a great man. He was a civil rights leader and trail blazer. Rep. Clay was a congressman who lead protests against a bank discriminating against hiring black people and he went to jail for it. William Clay was a man of moral courage and he deserves to be honored.
Testifying in person for the bill were Representative Fountain Henderson; Precious Jones; Romelle Blackmon, MO NAACP.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
