HB 2979 -- COVENANTS NOT TO COMPETE INVOLVING PHYSICIANS

This bill establishes the "Missouri Rural Doctors Act". It prohibits covenants not to compete between a physician and a nonprofit employer unless:

(1) The physician is providing services in a clinical setting;

(2) The covenant not to compete does not restrict the physician's competitive activities for more than one year; and

(3) The covenant not to compete does not restrict the physician's competitive activities in a geographic area of more than five miles from the address of the facility in which the physician is providing services.

The bill does not apply to any covenant not to compete between a physician and a research university hospital.

This bill is similar to HB 913 (2025).
