COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "Do Pass" by the Special Committee on Intergovernmental Affairs by a vote of 13 to 0.
Currently, a firearms safety instructor is considered a qualified firearms safety instructor by a sheriff issuing a concealed carry permit if the instructor meets certain criteria.
This bill provides that a firearms safety instructor may be considered qualified if he or she is certified by the United States Concealed Carry Association (USCCA).
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that USCCA has standards on par with other organizations currently able to certify individuals as a firearms safety instructor.
Testifying in person for the bill was Representative Schulte.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
