HCR 28 -- INFERTILITY AWARENESS WEEK

SPONSOR: Murray

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "Do Pass" by the Standing Committee on Health and Mental Health by a vote of 16 to 0.

This concurrent resolution designates the last full week of April each year as Infertility Awareness Week to increase understanding, provide support, and emphasize the importance of access to care for all affected individuals and families.

This bill is similar to HCR 1 (2025 Second Extraordinary Session) and HCR 4 (2025).

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the dream of starting a family is not simple and not guaranteed for many couples, causing shame and stigma. This resolution reduces that stigma and encourages compassion for those whose journey may be more complicated than others realize.

Testifying in person for the bill were Representative Murray; The Missouri Chapter of The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists; and Arnie Dienoff.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.

Written testimony has been submitted for this bill. The full written testimony and witnesses testifying online can be found under Testimony on the bill page on the House website.
