This bill states that a landlord may not charge a rental application fee unless said fees are used to cover the landlord's costs in processing the application. The rental application fee may not be greater than $15, and the landlord must provide a receipt to the prospective tenant.
If the entire amount of the rental application fee is not used, the landlord must remit to the prospective tenant the remainder of the unused fee. The landlord must make a good-faith effort to remit the unused amount within 20 calendar days after processing the application.
