WHEREAS, the Missouri General Assembly has a long tradition of rendering 2 assistance to those programs aimed at developing qualities of citizenship and leadership 3 within our youth; and 4 5 WHEREAS, the Missouri Girls State program of the American Legion Auxiliary has 6 earned considerable recognition for its success in providing young women with unique and 7 valuable insights into the process of democratic government through a format of direct role- 8 playing experience; and 9 10 WHEREAS, during June 2026, the American Legion Auxiliary, Department of 11 Missouri, is conducting the Eighty-fourth Annual Session of Missouri Girls State; and 12 13 WHEREAS, an important highlight of this event is the conducting of a mock 14 legislative session in the House Chamber at the State Capitol where participants will gather to 15 gain a more realistic insight into official governmental and electoral proceedings: 16 17 NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that we, the members of the Missouri 18 House of Representatives, One Hundred Third General Assembly, hereby grant the adult 19 leaders and participants of the Eighty-fourth Session of the Missouri Girls State permission to 20 use the House Chamber for the purpose of conducting a mock legislative session on 21 Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 22 23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the sponsor of this House Resolution, 24 Representative Marlon Anderson, or his designee, shall be present in the House Chamber and 25 shall assume responsibility for the group's actions for the duration of the aforementioned 26 event. 27 28 Special note: Participants in the aforementioned event shall conduct themselves in a manner 29 that preserves the dignity and honor of the House of Representatives. 30 behave respectfully and dress appropriately for the occasion. Food items, drinks, and 31 smoking are prohibited on the floor of the House and lower gallery, and participants shall 32 refrain from any conduct that diminishes the decorum of the House Chamber. 33 Access to the dais is limited to the Speaker's podium for purposes of using the 34 microphone to speak to those assembled. Access to the staff area behind the rostrum is 35 prohibited. 36 Group photographs; the hanging of any banners or other items on the walls, curtains, 37 or any surface within the House Chamber; and the use of any equipment, including 38 computers, phones, or other items on the dais and rostrum area, are also prohibited. ✔
