This bill establishes the "Paraquat Ban and Environmental Research Act of 2026". Beginning January 1, 2027, the use of paraquat is prohibited in this State, except as specified in the bill. Before January 1, 2027, anyone using, distributing, or selling paraquat must submit a detailed report to the Department of Agriculture regarding his or her use of paraquat, including the information specified in the bill. The Department must compile and publish these reports on its website by no later than March 31, 2027, and annually thereafter.
Any person who uses, distributes, or sells paraquat in violation of the prohibition will be subject to a fine in the amount of $250 for the first violation and $500 for any subsequent violations.
