Currently, safety inspections are not required for registration of a motor vehicle having less than 150,000 miles for the 10-year period following the model year of manufacture. The Department of Revenue must retain odometer information for certain motor vehicles having less than 150,000 miles for the 10-year period following the model year of manufacture.
This bill changes the safety inspection exemption and the Department's odometer requirements to apply to motor vehicles having less than 150,000 miles of model year 2000 or newer.
This bill is similar to HB 424 (2025).
