Currently, a person commits the offense of unlawful possession of a firearm if they knowingly possess a firearm under certain conditions.
This bill states that a person is also in violation if he or she is:
(1) An illegal alien in the United States; or
(2) Has been admitted to the country under a non-immigration visa and he or she does not qualify for an exception under federal prohibitions on the possession of a firearm.
