This bill exempts "portable solar generation devices", as defined in the bill, from net metering requirements and requires the devices to include a feature to prevent the device from energizing the building's electrical system during a power outage. The electric supplier is not liable for damage or injury from the device and cannot require the customer to obtain approval prior to a customer installing the device, pay additional fees, or install additional controls or equipment beyond what is integrated into the system.
This bill is similar to HB 2528 (2026).
