This bill establishes the "Missouri Music Professional Development Pilot Program" in the Office of Quality Schools within the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Beginning in the 2026-27 school year the Department will work with a statewide association of Missouri music educators to provide five workshops with content-specific professional development for music educators.
The bill specifies additional duties and aspects of the pilot program including the establishment of the "Missouri Music Professional Development Pilot Program Fund" for the payment of substitute teachers and mileage reimbursement for attendees and the payment of a $500 honorarium for presenters.
The pilot program will terminate after three years and the Department must submit a report to the General Assembly with results from the program, including benefits experienced by school districts that employ participants.
