HB 2191 -- IGNITION INTERLOCK DEVICES

SPONSOR: Sassmann

Currently, a court can require a person found guilty of their first intoxication-related traffic offense to use an ignition interlock device for six months after their license is reinstated. Any court authorized to grant a limited driving privilege to a person found guilty of a second or subsequent intoxication-related traffic offense must require the use of an ignition interlock device as a condition of that limited driving privilege.

Under this bill, a person's intoxication-related traffic offense must result in the use of an ignition interlock device for not less than six months from the date of reinstatement of their license, and an ignition interlock device will be required as a condition of any limited driving privilege granted to the person.
