This bill requires that in November of 2026 any school district that is attached to a community college district and located wholly in any county with more than 100,000 but fewer than 120,000 inhabitants and with a county seat with more than 9,000 but fewer than 11,000 inhabitants, currently Cass County, must submit to the voters in the district a ballot measure to determine if the school district should detach from the community college district.
Sample ballot language is provided and if the vote is in the affirmative the school district must detach within six years of the vote. If the vote is not in the affirmative the ballot issue will be brought forward every six years until approved.
