SPONSOR: Peters
COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "Do Pass" by the Special Committee on Tourism by a vote of 9 to 1.
This bill designates the smooth chanterelle as the official mushroom for the State of Missouri.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the smooth chanterelle is a mushroom found in hardwood forests throughout Missouri. The smooth chanterelle is vibrant gold edible mushroom and is much easier to find than morels. You can't buy smooth chanterelles in the grocery store, so you have to go out and find them in the wild. Looking for smooth chanterelles is a fun hobby that can promote more use of our wooded parks.
