HB 1695 -- CAR SAFETY INSPECTIONS

Currently, periodic safety inspections are required for:

(1) Motor Vehicles over 10 years of age that have over 150,000 miles;

(2) Commercial motor vehicles;

(3) Prior salvage motor vehicles;

(4) Street rods, which are vehicles produced before 1949 or produced after 1948 and designed to look like a vehicle produced before 1949;

(5) Historical motor vehicles; and

(6) Vehicles in excess of 24,000 pounds registered for less than 12 months.

Beginning January 1, 2027, this bill removes safety inspection requirements for all vehicles except commercial motor vehicles, prior salvage vehicles, and vehicles subject to Section 307.380, RSMo.
