This bill creates in the "State Road Project Fund". The State Treasurer is the custodian of the Fund and moneys in the Fund will not revert to the credit of the General Revenue Fund at the end of the biennium. Moneys in the fund will be used solely for planning, relocating, establishing, acquiring, constructing, and maintaining interstate and primary highways, supplementary state highways and bridges, and to acquire materials and equipment for this purpose.
The bill imposes a tax of 50% of the total cost of any road project funded by the State. The tax will be paid by the State into the State Road Project Fund upon completion of the project. The total cost will include all moneys spent on construction materials, labor, and equipment.
