This bill authorizes a transient guest tax in any city, town, village, or county in the state. The tax may be up to 5% per occupied room per night on charges for sleeping rooms. The tax will only become effective if submitted to voters by the governing body of the city, town, village, or county and approved by a majority vote. No area already imposing a transient guest tax under another provision of law may impose this transient guest tax.
