Currently, an excursion boat licensee must pay an admission fee of $2.00 for each person embarking on a gambling boat with a ticket of admission. The $2.00 fee is split evenly, with $1.00 deposited into the Gaming Commission Fund, and $1.00 paid to the home dock city or county.
This bill increases the admission fee that a licensee must pay to $52 to be allocated in the following manner:
(1) $1 to the Gaming Commission Fund;
(2) $1 paid to the home dock city or county;
(3) $25 to the Veterans Commission Capital Improvement Trust Fund; and
(4) $25 to the Missouri Historic Steamboat Museum Fund.
Currently, a tax is imposed on the gross receipts from gambling boat games at a rate of 21%. The bill increases the rate of tax to 25%.
This bill establishes the "Missouri Historic Steamboat Museum Fund," into which $25 will be deposited from fees paid on admissions to gambling boats. Moneys from the fund will be used as follows:
(1) For the construction, maintenance, and operation of a newly created steamboat museum, with the purpose of housing and displaying books, maps, artifacts, recovered steamboat structures, and any other material related to the significance of steamboat history in Missouri; and
(2) For the acquisition and preservation of books, maps, artifacts, recovered steamboat structures, and any other material related to the significance of steamboat history in Missouri.
This program sunsets six years after the effective date.
