This bill creates the "Prohibition of Discriminatory Disability Mascot Act" and defines "discriminatory disability mascot" as having a name, logo, or mascot that is derogatory or representative of an individual or group based on disability as defined in the Federal Americans with Disabilities Act.
Public institutions of higher education, school districts, and public schools can not adopt or continue to use a discriminatory disability mascot. Uniforms or other materials currently in use can be used for three years after the bill goes into effect if the school selects a new mascot and refrains from acquiring additional discriminatory mascot resources.
