This bill, subject to appropriations, establishes within the Department of Corrections a "Contingency Management Program". The Program will facilitate and encourage long-term abstinence from substance abuse and provide cash incentives to eligible persons who are on probation or parole after serving time in the Department of Corrections. The Department can award successful participants a cash incentive of $250 for completing the following requirements:
(1) Six months of abstinence post-incarceration for substance abuse;
(2) Participation in at least 62 recovery meetings approved by the Department;
(3) Completion of at least two negative drug screenings; and
(4) Completion of a recovery workbook
The bill limits the number of cash incentive awards to 28.
This bill sunsets six years after the effective date.
