HB 1432 -- TEACHER EDUCATION AND TRAINING

SPONSOR: Mosley

This bill requires the State Board of Education in consultation with the Missouri Advisory Board for Educator Preparation to include in teacher education programs three credit hours of social and emotional learning and three credit hours for social work in education.

Starting in the 2026-27 school year, teacher in-service training in school districts will include three hours of training in social and emotional learning and social work for a total of six hours of professional development contact.

Currently, substitute teacher certification requires 20 hours of training; this bill ensures that at least six of those hours include training in social emotional learning and social work in education.
