This bill requires that no state funds, personnel, or facilities will be used in the enforcement of discriminatory immigration policies, including policies based on racial profiling or that violate an individual's constitutional rights.
The bill requires that all peace officers in the state must participate in training on racial profiling and constitutional rights on a yearly basis.
Currently, no government entity or official, or political subdivision within the state can prohibit the entity or official from communicating or cooperating with federal immigration agents regarding the citizenship or immigration status of any individual. This bill states these provisions will apply only when there is a clear and documented public safety concern. This bill further states that no political subdivision, government entity, or government official will cooperate with the enforcement of any immigration practice that is based on racial profiling or which violates an individual's constitutional rights.
