This bill prohibits a licensed firearms dealer from selling or transferring a firearm to an individual until the dealer has verified through an inquiry of the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) that the individual is not on a restricted list, as established in this bill.
An individual who is not statutorily prohibited from possessing a firearm may voluntarily restrict himself or herself from the purchase of a firearm. The individual can voluntarily restrict himself or herself temporarily or permanently.
The bill provides the procedure and forms necessary for an individual to voluntary restrict himself or herself from the purchase of a firearm.
This bill is similar to HB 1872 (2024) and SB 1327 (2024).
