This bill requires a random drawing to be used to determine the order in which candidates' names will appear on the ballot for all candidates filing in any nonpartisan election for a political subdivision or special district who file a declaration of candidacy on the first day for filing.
The bill also requires all candidates filing in a nonpartisan election for a political subdivision or special district to submit declarations of candidacy to the election authority for the city or county in which the political subdivision or special district is located. For any political subdivision or special district located in the jurisdiction of more than one election authority, candidates will file at the election authority with the greatest proportion of the political subdivision or special district's registered voters.
