Currently, civil actions for childhood sexual abuse must be commenced within 10 years of the plaintiff turning 21 or within three years of the date the plaintiff discovers or reasonably should have discovered that the injury or illness was caused by childhood sexual abuse, whichever occurs later. This bill repeals the statute of limitations, allowing the actions to be commenced at any time.
The enactment of this change is contingent on the passage of a constitutional amendment allowing retrospective laws for claims of childhood sexual abuse.
