HB 1079 -- LICENSED CHILD CARE FACILITIES

This bill establishes the following staff-to-children ratios for licensed child care facilities in this State:

(1) For children under one year of age, there must be one child care personnel for every four children;

(2) For children one year of age or older but under two years of age, there must be one child care personnel for every six children;

(3) For children two years of age or older but under three years of age, there must be one child care personnel for every eleven children;

(4) For children three years of age or older but under four years of age, there must be one child care personnel for every fifteen children;

(5) For children four years of age or older but under five years of age, there must be one child care personnel for every twenty children; and

(6) For children five years of age or older, there must be one child care personnel for every twenty-five children.

For circumstances in which children two years of age or older are in the care of the licensed child care facility, the staff-to- children ratio must be based on the age group with the largest number of children within the group.
