HB 810 -- DESIGNATION OF A MEMORIAL HIGHWAY

SPONSOR: Baker

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "Do Pass" by the Special Committee on Tourism by a vote of 10 to 0. Voted "Do Pass" by the Standing Committee on Rules-Administrative by a vote of 8 to 0.

This bill establishes the "Lloyd Memorial Highway" on that portion of U.S. Highway 60 from Kodiak Road continuing east to Cemetery Road in Newton County. The Department of Transportation will erect and maintain appropriate signs with the costs to be paid by private donations.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that Davy and Natalie Lloyd were an example of love and commitment to others. They wouldn't have wanted this designation for themselves because they didn't do things for attention, but their bravery, compassion, and caliber of character needs to be remembered in this State.

Testifying in person for the bill was Representative Baker.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
