HCR 6 -- MISSOURI SOUTHERN MISSION STATEMENT

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "Do Pass" by the Standing Committee on Higher Education and Workforce Development by a vote of 13 to 0. Voted "Do Pass" by the Standing Committee on Rules-Legislative by a vote of 10 to 0.

This House Concurrent Resolution approves the statewide mission designation expansion for Missouri Southern State University to include Health and Life Sciences and Immersive Learning Experiences.

This bill is the same as HCR 50 (2024).

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that this focus is a strategic area that is important to the state and that there is no infringement on other institutions. The Missouri Southern State University has the most undergraduate programs in health and life sciences in the state and all of these programs are of the highest quality with 100% pass percentage on certificate programs. This focus will allow the university to provide realistic learning environments across and beyond the physical campus.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
