This bill specifies that all information provided by a major water user to the Department of Natural Resources' Geological Survey Division from the filed registration document is confidential and cannot be released by the Division to the public or disclosed in response to a records request. However, the Division may disclose in the aggregate for each county the number of major water users and the amount of water used and may disclosure information in response to a subpoena or court order. Any employee who purposely or knowingly discloses confidential information will be subject to disciplinary action by the Division and is guilty of a class A misdemeanor.
This bill is the same as HCS HB 2669 (2024).
