HJR 25 -- NONPARTISAN COURT PLAN

SPONSOR: Hardwick

Currently, under the nonpartisan court plan, the nonpartisan judicial commission making the judicial nomination appoints one of the nominees if the Governor fails to appoint any of the nominees within 60 days after the list of nominees is submitted. Under this resolution, if the Governor fails to make the appointment, the commission will reconvene and submit the names of three different qualified persons to the Governor. The Governor will then appoint from the nominees to fill the vacancy.
