HB 396 -- RAILROAD CROSSING CLEARANCE

SPONSOR: Peters

This bill specifies that every corporation or person owning or operating a railroad in this State must maintain a minimum distance of at least 500 feet from the near edge railroad crossings to the railroad rolling stock stored on the sidings. The Department of Transportation may determine a lessor or greater distance is necessary at a particular location. If physical conditions require the use of track temporarily or minimum distance cannot be obtained, the requirements do not apply to certain rail cars.
