This bill authorizes the governing body of any city described in the bill to impose a tax of 6% per occupied room per night paid by transient guests of hotels or motels within the city.
The tax would not become effective unless submitted to the voters of the city and ratified by a majority of the votes cast thereon. Authorized in the bill is any city with more than 10,000 but fewer than 11,000 inhabitants and that is the county seat of a county with more than 100,000 but fewer than 120,000 inhabitants.
Upon enactment, this bill applies to Harrisonville.
This bill is similar to HB 1439 (2024).
