HB 233 -- COUNTY PLANNING BOARD HEARING NOTICES

SPONSOR: Gallick

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "Do Pass" by the Standing Committee on Legislative Review by a vote of 10 to 0. Voted "Do Pass" by the Standing Committee on Rules-Administrative by a vote of 8 to 0.

This bill requires that notices of county planning board hearings be posted on the county's website and repeals the requirement that the notices be posted at least 15 days in advance of the hearing in at least two places in each township.

This bill is the same as HB 1992 (2024).

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that this allows county postings to be posted just online and removes the requirement that a county posting be made physically. It can be very dangerous in small counties to have to post certain notices physically. It also uses valuable resources that could be better spent elsewhere.

Testifying in person for the bill were Representative Gallick; Cass County; MO Press Association.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.

Written testimony has been submitted for this bill. The full written testimony and witnesses testifying online can be found under Testimony on the bill page on the House website.
