HB 2744 -- FIRE PROTECTION TO ANNEXED AREAS

SPONSOR: Sander

This bill provides that fire protection districts serving areas included within an annexation by a city located in a county of the first or second classification or a county with more than 700,000 but fewer than 800,000 inhabitants will continue to provide fire protection services to the annexed area. The city annually must pay the fire protection district the amount the district would have levied on all taxable property within the annexed area. The residents within the annexed area may vote in all the fire protection district elections and may serve on the fire protection district board.
