Currently, Federal law requires accessible voting machines to be made available for use by voters who are blind or have visual impairments during any Federal election.
This bill requires accessible voting machines to also be made available for use by voters who are blind or have visual impairments during all State and local elections.
As specified in the bill, election authorities with fewer than 300,000 inhabitants are required to utilize at least one voting machine within their jurisdiction.
No voter will be required to prove blindness or vision impairment as a condition of utilizing a voting machine.
This bill is similar to HB 1075 (2023) and HB 2018 (2022).
