This bill specifies that a person commits the offense of unlawful use of weapons if he or she knowingly carries a firearm or any other weapon readily capable of lethal use into any parade zone during parade hours, as defined in the bill.
The bill specifies that no valid concealed carry permit of any type will authorize any person to carry concealed firearms into any parade zone during parade hours. Only a peace officer, may carry a firearm into a parade zone during parade hours.
This bill requires a parade host to ensure that all parade attendees go through a checkpoint to enter the parade zone. At the checkpoint, attendees will pass through a metal detector or be scanned by security. Any attendee found to be in possession of a firearm will be denied entrance into the parade zone.
