HB 2655 -- FAILING TO SUPERVISE A CHILD

SPONSOR: Fountain Henderson

This bill creates the offense of failing to supervise a child, which is an infraction and comes with a maximum of 250 hours of community service. A person commits the offense of failing to supervise a child if the person is the parent, lawful guardian, or other person lawfully charged with the care or custody of a child under 15 years of age and the child commits one of the acts specified in the bill. The bill also provides two affirmative defenses for a person charged with committing the offense.

This bill is similar to HB 1235 (2023).
