This bill establishes the "Employment Security and Job Referrals Act of 2024". Beginning January 1, 2025, the Division of Employment Security within the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations is required to establish a process by which open positions submitted by employers to the Department will be directly shared with unemployment compensation claimants. The Division is required to facilitate contact between employers and claimants and monitor whether claimants are responsive to a referral. If a claimant is not sufficiently responsive to a referral, as determined by a process established by rule of the Division, the person will be deemed to have failed to participate in reemployment services, as required by current law.
This bill is similar to HB 1167 and SB 6 (2023); and SB 777 (2022).
