HB 2506 -- PEACE OFFICER USE OF FORCE

SPONSOR: Bland Manlove

This bill prohibits a law enforcement officer from knowingly using a carotid restraint unless the use is to defend the officer or another person from serious physical injury or death. The bill defines "carotid restraint". The use of a respiratory choke-hold or carotid restraint for any purpose other than a purpose allowed by law will be cause for an officer's immediate dismissal and revocation of the officer's law enforcement license.

This bill is similar to HB 1042 (2023).
