This bill provides that a person shall be unfit for elected public office or employment with the state or any local government if the person, while holding elected public office, is convicted of stealing campaign funds, the funds of a caucus, or the funds of an association, or of expending campaign funds in violation of law.
Any person unfit for elected public office or employment with the state or any local government shall be removed from such office or employment.
Any elected or appointed official who knowingly appoints or retains a person unfit for employment with the state or any local government shall be removed from office.
Any person unfit for elected public office or employment with the state or any local government shall not be eligible to receive retirement benefits from the respective plan of that office or employment.
This bill is similar to HB 866 (2023).
