This bill modifies mandatory minimum prison terms for certain offenses specified in the bill.
If the offender has no previous prison commitment for a felony offense, the minimum prison term shall be 75% of the sentence.
If the offender has one or more prior commitments for a felony offense, the minimum prison term shall be 80%.
This bill repeals a provision of law reducing the sentence of an offender who has been found guilty of a dangerous felony, has attained the age of 70, and has served at least 40% of the sentence imposed by the court.
The bill also requires any person convicted of certain offenses, as provided in the bill, to serve 100% of the sentence imposed by the court.
This bill is similar to HB 339 (2023).
