HB 2258 -- LAND ACQUISITION BY FEDERAL GOVERNMENT

SPONSOR: Davis

This bill requires the General Assembly to approve the transfer of certain real property from the state of Missouri to the United States by any method including a voluntary agreement, condemnation, or purchase. The State retains the right of taxation over such areas and the right to serve civil and criminal process documents within any area transferred to the United States government.

Additionally, the bill repeals a provision stating that the State gives its consent to the acquisition of land by the United States in certain cities for the purpose of improving and maintaining any national park or plaza and a provision establishing concurrent legislative jurisdiction over crimes to the United States over certain lands.

This bill is the same as HB 1178 (2023).
