HB 2233 -- TRAINS CARRYING HAZARDOUS MATERIAL

This bill prohibits railroads to operate or permit to be operated, any freight or work train carrying hazardous material that exceeds 8,500 feet in length on any part of a main track or branch line. A first offense is a class D misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $500. A second offense is a class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $700. A third or subsequent offense is a class B misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $1000.

This bill is the same as HB 636 (2023).
