This bill increases the surcharge on every criminal court proceeding filed by $10, and the $10 will be deposited into the "Victims of Domestic Violence Fund", created in the bill. A victim of domestic violence may be compensated under the new fund or under the Crime Victims' Compensation Fund but cannot receive compensation from both funds if the compensation is from the same offense.
This bill is the same as HB 2347 (2022) and similar to HB 1234 (2021).
