HB 1877 -- ENDANGERING THE WELFARE OF A CHILD

This bill expands the offense of endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree to now include knowingly failing to secure, as provided in the bill, a readily available firearm in the presence of a child under the age of 17 or in a residence where a child under the age of 17 resides. It shall not be an affirmative defense to a charge pursuant to this provision if the offense results in a death of a child that is determined to be a suicide.

This bill is the same as HB 422 (2023).
