Currently, up to two children who are five years old or older that are related to the child care provider within the third degree will not be included in the maximum number of children for which the family child care home is licensed. This bill allows any child related to the child care provider or an assistant of the provider within the third degree to not be counted, regardless of the child's age, provided that each child care provider or assistant shall have only one child count toward the maximum number of children and is not receiving compensation for that child's care.
